Top 5 Spotlight: Leas Letters

About the shop: I sell handmade greeting cards and other paper goods for all occasions

What’s your story, how did you get started?

I started selling cards to support my paper addiction.  I had a shoebox full of cards and nothing to do with them.  I started listing items on ETSY and it grew from there.  I really do this for stress relief. I have a full time job, family and elderly parent that lives with me so paper crafting is my “me” time.

What’s your muse?

Paper inspires me.  All of the patterns and designs scream out to me ʺcreateʺ.

What are your favorite materials when creating?

Paper, paer and more paper.  Also, I love my ATG tape gun.  Couldn’t craft without that one.

What are your goals?

I would like to have more ETSY sales and do two shows a year to start.  I’d like to meet other paper artists and craft together.  I think that would be a lot of fun.

Any advice to share?

I’ve learned that your stuff can not look like everyone elses.  That is one reason I don’t have a die cutting machine.  I don’t want to have the same cut outs as everyone else.  Also, you have to love what you create.

Boho 72

Wow, guys, in the past week I’ve listed some new cards and announced a few shows. Are you thinking I’ve been sneaky with keeping so much on the DL? Well, hold your hats because I have some more exciting news!

In early fall I was contacted to discuss the opportunity to have my cards sold in a new shop that was to open a few weeks later.  I’m currently only in a small art gallery in Troy, Michigan (Duffy & Co) so I jumped at the chance to be in a store in Ohio!

Boho 72 opened their doors a few weeks ago, and I can’t wait to stop in to meet Jamie IRL. Boho 72 is located in my post-college stompin’ grounds: Dublin, Ohio. In addition to my cute cards (ahem, which are right by the register. Yes please feel free to impulse buy away!)- this shop sells apparel, accessories, art work and gifts. My girl Allison’s super wicked etched stemware are sold here too!

The shop is open Tuesday-Sunday. Make sure you fan them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.  Oh and of course, stop by the store and check them out!

Last year I was a vendor at the Crafty Goodness: A Modern Art & Crafts Show. Although the location is easy to miss the show was a huge success. (Quick tip: turn into the lot right after McDonald’s) Allison and I vended side by side. There was a steady stream of customers- the day just flew by. Plus a bunch of my family and friends stopped by. It was such a fun show!

I’m proud to announce that I’ll be vending at this year’s show too!

The 3rd Annual Crafty Goodness: A Modern Art & Crafts Show will take place on Saturday November 5, 2011 at the Parma Elks Club from 10:00 am – 6:00 pm. Admission is free.

Check out the list of other vendors and if you’re in the Cleveland area make sure to stop by! November 5th isn’t too early to start your holiday shopping!

Want to learn more this cute handmade shop in my hometown? Visit their website or fan them on Facebook!

Sadly, Allison has a prior engagement. I will miss her bunches- doing shows with her are always so much fun. I hope we find a show to do together soon!
