Top 5 Spotlight: Wild Wire
Name: Nancy Pace
About the Shop: I sell original one of a kind art jewelry designs and custom pieces.

What’s your story, how did you get started?
I started my business when the economy closed my antiques mall and I was without income. I started my jewelry business on a shoestring with make-do tools. It was a huge advantage to be involed in start-up and day to day running other businesses. I already knew the nuts and bolts of running a business. I did not know how to make art jewelry; I had no time for funds or classes. I threw myself into it and now after about 2 years am honored to be teaching my skills to others.
What’s your muse?
My inspiration comes from my dreams awake or sleeping. It takes very little to motivate me to work, I love my job!
What are your favorite materials when creating?
I think my torch is my favorite tool, but my many hammers are a close second :) My favorite medium? I have two equally as addicting for me, metals in all forms and stone.

What are your goals?
My goal is to expand my studio to accommodate students. I enjoy face to face teaching time so much, but having to find space and then travel can be a problem.
I would like to hire at least a part-time employee for clerical work sometime in the near future.
Ultimate goal? To be considered a serious artist.
Any advice to share?
If you wish to be successful in business be a stellar employee and an employer who will only accept the best. Strive for excellence in everything you do.
Make a business plan, stick to it. Keep regular hours, work hard when you work but remember to take breaks and in the evening stop working and relax so you are fresh to start again in the morning.
Being self employed is a real job, treat it that way and when you do your friends and family will “get” it. Life is much easier when they treat your work as a real job:)
Always celebrate your successes no matter how small!
