Ghost Ghost

The Results are IN

Hello December- I’d like to say you snuck up on me but that would be a lie. However seeing 12-01-11 on the calendar today is still a little crazy. Indication that 2011 is almost to an end!

During November I took on the Shred It Challenge with some fellow bloggers and today it’s time to share the results and final thoughts!

First a recap of the amount of exercise I actually accomplished:

  • Week 1: Shred Level 1, 4x. Cardio, 0
  • Week 2: Shred Level 2, 3x. Cardio, 0.
  • Week 3: Shred Level 3, 3x. Cardio, 3x.
  • Week 4: Shred, 0. Cardio, 1x.
  • Week 5: Shred Level 3, 2x. Cardio, 2x.

I had some lazy moments for sure and having the flu for a week totally messed up all exercise plans but that’s okay. Deciding to take on the 100 day Challenge with Kim really helped me add some cardio to my workouts- which is a very good thing!

Now, my measurements:

Overall I lost 1.7 lbs. But I don’t really think I lost any actual weight. My New Year Resolution for 2007 was to exercise regularly. (Before then I’d maybe workout 10x a year if at all) I lost about 10-15lbs in the first 1.5 years in my new life style but since my wedding my weight has pretty much stuck around the 114 range. I may not see any changes on the scale but I don’t let that discourage me. I know muscle weighs more than fat.  I did lose 8.25” all together. I lost a quarter of an inch to almost two inches throughout my various body parts besides my biceps. My right bicep now measures the same as my left, score!  And losing 2” on my trouble spot (mid-section) makes me smile.

My final thoughts:

I truly enjoyed this challenge mostly because I knew there were a handful of other girls getting worked over by Jilly too. I looked forward to reading everyone’s updates on their blog and seeing tweets that an exercise was just completed.  I also think this is a good workout DVD. I think Level 2 is the hardest for me but I feel like Level 3 is supposed to kick more ass which is why I ended up doing more of it. If I’m going to be honest though, any level is going to get your heart thumpin’ and sweat pourin’- which is what I LOVE about Jillian’s DVDs.  While some of her later DVD’s are a lot harder (the moves in Ripped in 30 are insane compared to the 30 Day Shred) I found it pleasing to know I could come back to an “easier” workout program and still manage to see great results!

What’s next? I’m not sure. I’m continuing on with the 100 day challenge. I’ve designed a training schedule for my runelation which starts January 1st. There is a chance I’ll be hopping on board with another Jillian challenge for the month of December. Stay tuned!
