See it & Steal it
I own a lot of black clothing. A well cared for black garment can last many years, making it a timeless piece. Black pairs well with bold colors, it’s slimming and always creates a sophisticated look. When I saw this outfit on Pinterest, I knew I’d be duplicating it. I don’t know about you but sometimes looking for inspiration on my fashion board makes me feel like I need to...

Goodbye Sweets
Ash Wednesday was yesterday meaning the Lenten season is here once again. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always given something up for Lent. When I was younger I would give up soda, which was always a challenge. One year I gave up time and used it to do daily devotionals. Last year I gave up cookies-my preferred choice of baked goods. This year, I tossed around the idea of giving up social...

I’ve been Pinned!
How was your weekend? Mine was too quick since, unlike my husband, I had to work on President’s Day. But I managed to cram as much fun filled stuff as possible into my two days off! On Sunday we met up with some friends for brunch. Such an adult thing to do, have brunch- don’t you think? One of my friends is about a month away from having her first baby and unfortunately I wasn’t able to make her...

Knit Layers
Perhaps it’s my inner 80’s child calling but when I saw leg warmers on clearance earlier this week I knew I needed to buy them. I’m not really sure how you wear leg warmers. I really should have paid attention to the packaging before I took the tags off. Then it dawned me that I don’t even know what you wear leg warmers with.. only visions of Flashdance came to mind. I decided to wear mine with a...

Sweetheart Failure
Remember a few weeks ago when I announced my February race for the Runelation? Well apparently the stars were lined against me and that 5k. This was a Sweetheart Fail. Failure #1: The Sweetheart Shuffle was actually Sunday February 12 and not Saturday. Good thing I decided to check out the deats Thursday afternoon. Totally would have shown up on the wrong day. I even marked it on ALL my calendars...

Kickin' it in red!
Happy Friday!   I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but I’ve been trying to add more fashion posts up in hurrr. I think I’m more into buying collecting clothes then fashion itself but one things for sure I love piecing together outfits.   Since most runway looks make me nervous..   *Source Like what’s going on here? I’m totally clueless. …Thank goodness there are awesome fashion bloggers out there...

Extra Special February Run
Hey guess what? It’s February. Month 2 of 12 in my Runelation. And this month’s race is extra special. About two weeks ago I bated my pretty eyes at the husband and said “do you want to do a Valentine’s 5k with me?” There was some hesitation when I told him the race is outside but his final decision was “that sounds like fun”.  Maybe he’s hopping on the Runelation train with me? There are two...

February Goals: Crafty
Before I jump in on my goals to tackle this month, let’s recap how I did last month! January definitely tested me. We had a small house fire (caution, be careful with gas torches), we both spent a week sick, we lost some siding off our house when it was windy like crazy, and unfortunately some close people passed away. There will always be highs and lows in life- and thankfully January...

Hazelnut Donuts
I was busy Pinning one day when I came across this recipe for baked chocolate donuts. Drooled on the keyboard a little too. Kidding!  But I did run to Target later to pick up a donut pan. Turns out we didn’t have all the ingredients we needed so we improvised a little bit. I only used half whole wheat flour and used white for the rest. For the frosting we substituted the heavy whipping cream...

Brights, Polka Dots, & Stripes!
A real winter storm has yet to hit Dayton this season and the random warm days have me longing for spring.  The current nautical theme in bright colors and bold stripes I’m seeing all over the fashion industry is not helping. The looks are fresh with the perfect pop of color. I’m really excited for the arrival of warmer weather this year! CAUTION: MAY CAUSE DROOLING First and foremost I...

Nude Leggings
I sometimes find super thick leggings at Marshall’s. They’re almost like sweaters for your legs- they keep my legs so warm in the winter.  I have a pair in nude and I always feel awkward wearing them. They kinda look like heavier spanks. But I wear ‘em because they’re super warm. Plus when I pair them with a neutral boot my legs look long. Point for the shorties. Tunic:...

Add some cin
After I fell in love with the pumpkin spice syrup I made last fall I felt I needed to try a different kind. After a quick long session of pinning, I found this awesome set of coffee syrups. But I really wanted cinnamon syrup. So I added about a tablespoon of cinnamon to the vanilla syrup. Except I didn’t think that was enough, so next time I make this recipe I plan to add more, a lot more...

Parisian or Cowboy?
Late in December Jessica Quirk from What I Wore did a year in review of her 2011 looks. I’m sure it’s fun for her to look back at how she wore different items over the past year. I really enjoyed it because I didn’t stumble upon her blog until a few months ago. How on earth I didn’t know there were Fashion Bloggers out there? Oh the shame. One of my favorite 2011 purchases...

Move over sweater tunics..
Last week Sydney at the Daybook posted this comfy outfit: I fell in love with this look instantly (and of course pinned it). There is a lot of boot + leggings wearing in the winter for this girl! I found this combination of dress shirt with a chunky sweater to be a fresh take. I couldn’t wait to see how I could make it work with pieces from my closet: Boots: Old Navy. Leggings: TJ...

Your challenges are calling..
Remember this and this? Why is it that whenever I have a confession to share it’s always about how uncommitted I am to my fitness goals? Heck, no not even a fitness goal because I’m not trying to reach a particular weight or dress size. I guess it’s more of a lifestyle change. I want daily exercise to happen in my life. Looking over the WorkIt tab- clearly I have a pattern. I do...

World Race for Hope
Someone pinch me, I can’t believe what I’m about to write! Not only did I actually kick off my brilliant Runelation on January 1st but Dr. P and I ran our first 5K together. We kept NYE very low key-we got all dressed up for our special reservations at the Pilchak Grille. Might be the first time in a long time that I put on a dress, heels, makeup and curled my hair to have dinner with my husband...

Hello, Twenty Twelve
The new year has arrived and most of us our spending the first day hungover making promises to the new year. Including myself- minus the hangover. (I have a 5k today!) A few weeks ago I thought about what I wanted to achieve in 2012 and things I’d like to improve on. Well baby, that list is LONG. That led me to think about what is most important but choosing between activities like washing my face...

2011’s goals
It’s the end of the year, which means I guess I should take a look at the goals I set for myself for the year and see how I did. Honestly, I am pretty pleased with my progress.  Let’s review! My 2011 Goals 1.  Become a homeowner! Duh- ya know I got this one accomplished baby! It’s crazy to think we’re coming up on our 1 year anniversary of being homeowners. We still have a large bucket list of...

Game On
Well you know after the Akron Marathon my Runelaltion was born.   January à la twenty twelve is here in two weeks (say, what? I know!) which means I just registered for my first 2012 race! Holla! Let me get straight with you, I’m not really that excited to run outside in January in Ohio. I’m even less thrilled that the race I picked falls on New Years Day. I had a hard time committing because I...

Making the Cut
On Monday when I came home from work this was waiting at my doorstep:   Yes, that’s right- it’s Jillian Michaels!  Making the Cut is an intense 30 day diet and exercise plan designed to help one lose the last few pounds (up to 20) and looking fierce. I’ve been eyeing this book for over a year after I read Master Your Metabolism. I was happy to sit down and see what ol’ Jilly has to say. The...

The Results are IN
Hello December- I’d like to say you snuck up on me but that would be a lie. However seeing 12-01-11 on the calendar today is still a little crazy. Indication that 2011 is almost to an end! During November I took on the Shred It Challenge with some fellow bloggers and today it’s time to share the results and final thoughts! First a recap of the amount of exercise I actually accomplished: Week 1:...

LPD December Goals
Here it is- my last set of goals for my shop this year. And my goal list is pretty short: 1)      List a new card each week- this seems to be working for me, and it’s at a pace I can handle so why mess with a good thing? 2)      Have a Holiday card sale. This is already in the works and will be announced later today! 3)      Get accounting and finances up to date. It’s currently in a state of...
